The Durham District School Board (DDSB) is taking an exciting step forward in supporting growing communities in east Oshawa with the future opening of the Unnamed Oshawa Whitelaw Public School. As Durham Region continues to welcome new families, the new school will help provide meaningful learning opportunities closer to home. To prepare for the school's opening, the DDSB is undertaking a boundary review to establish a permanent attendance area. As part of this process, two proposed boundary scenarios are being shared for community input (which can be found in the Document Library) , giving families and community members an opportunity to help shape the future of student accommodation in the area. For the full report and information about the public consultation, please review the Boundary Review Information Report, also found in the Document Library.

Background
The future Unnamed Oshawa Whitelaw Public School will be an exciting addition to the growing east Oshawa community. Approved through the Ministry of Education's 2025 Capital Priorities program, the new JK to Grade 8 school is currently under construction and is scheduled to welcome students in Fall 2027. The school has a Ministry Rated Capacity of 634 students and is being built on a 5.97-acre site.
To prepare for the school's opening, the DDSB is undertaking a boundary review during the 2026-2027 school year to establish a permanent attendance area. Conducting the review in advance provides families, students, and schools with time to prepare for any boundary changes and supports effective planning for staffing and resources before the school opens.
